Has China Changed the Game in Electric Car Manufacturing?

Has China Changed the Game in Electric Car Manufacturing? A New Episode of 'Important Information'

A new episode of the "Important Information" program has launched, titled “Has China Changed the Game in Electric Car Manufacturing?”

For a long time, major car manufacturers like Porsche and Mercedes ruled the global car industry, with their engines and innovative technologies setting the standard for quality and excellence.

However, the moment the car industry shifted toward electric vehicles and the competition for electric car production began, the game changed entirely. Chinese companies, which were years behind the traditional engines of these European companies, suddenly found themselves at the forefront.

Looking at this significant shift in the car industry, we see that China began working on electric vehicle manufacturing before any other country. While global companies were busy boasting about their complex traditional engines, China focused on developing batteries and simple technologies for electric cars.

We also find that gasoline engines take years of research and development to reach their current level, while electric engines are much simpler.

This allowed China to quickly bridge the gap. Additionally, Chinese cars are priced much lower, to the extent that the European Union started accusing them of receiving government support and deliberately having Chinese car companies operate at a loss to dominate the electric vehicle market.

For example, the "Xiaomi SU7," the first car produced by Xiaomi (famous for its phones), broke the Porsche Taycan's record on the Nürburgring track by 20 seconds.

Europe's crisis with weak sales of European electric cars has also become another reason, as companies like Volvo and Mercedes have reconsidered their plans for a complete shift to electric. Meanwhile, the Chinese market is enjoying its best days.
